I’m still standing!

Located on the lower slopes of the Port Hills, this earthquake rebuild is a faithful tribute to the original Wayne Seebeck design that stood on this Christchurch property – with some modern twists. Retaining the stunning rimu beams and tongue-and-groove ceilings in the kitchen/dining/living area was a must. Sweeping timber floors enhance the beautiful natural warmth of these features. One of two townhouses on a compact cross-leased site, the house maximises views of the city and Alps. Large windows and skylights amplify natural light. The layout remains unchanged. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large open-plan living space offer plenty of room to relax on a generous 258sqm. Simple changes to the light, space and the style of the design have had a huge impact. Low-emissivity double glazing in thermally broken aluminium framing helps to regulate the temperature. The rebuild has eschewed its original brick cladding in favour of a modern mix of lightweight concrete and schist that’s also more seismically sound.
